DEWALT DWE7491RS vs. DEWALT DW745 Table Saws Product Comparison (2024)

Updated 09/13/2023

Today, we’ve decided to compare the DEWALT DWE7491RS table saw vs. the DEWALT DW745 table saws because a good table saw is one of the most important tools found in every woodworker’s shop.

Of course, not all carpenters spend their days in one convenient shop.

In fact, a table saw is needed in many cases to move around on job sites and travel from one site to another.

Obviously, portable table saws will prioritize different features than those that are intended to be permanently stationed in a woodshop.

When choosing the right table saw for your needs, you’ll want to consider the kind of work you’ll be doing with it, as well as the location you’ll be using it.

The varieties and sizes of wood to be cut will impact the motor and design of the saw that will be best for you.

At the same time, the kinds of cuts you’ll need to make may eliminate some other types of saws from consideration.

Whatever purpose you have for your portable table saw, DEWALT is a reliable and high-quality brand.

You’ll know that you are getting a center section that is perfectly flat and smooth without any warping or imperfections.

The miter grooves will offer a smooth guide for any accessories you may need, and any included extensions will perform as intended.

The DWE7491RS is a great choice for those who need the convenience of a portable table saw with the capability to rip large sheets or cut baseboards..

It is designed to be portable and includes a rolling stand, so it is very job site-friendly, despite weighing approximately 90 pounds.

It even includes storage built right into the saw, so that you won’t need to carry an extra toolkit to ensure that you have the parts that you need to adjust or tighten this saw.

The onboard storage for the DWE7491RS includes everything you need for the fence and to access the assembly of the blade guard.

It also has a miter gauge, riving knife, wrenches that fit the saw, push stick, and even a cord wrap spot.

DEWALT made it all convenient with the DWE7491RS saw, and that’s something we really appreciate. We’re sure you will too!

The fence extends to allow for a 32 ½ inch rip, which can really come in handy when working with larger sheets of wood.

It is important to note that this is still smaller than some builders may need, though it is one of the larger portable models available.

Since this saw is designed to be portable, the fence rails retract.

Since the DWE7491RS table saw features an open design, you will want to monitor the dust.

DEWALT did include a port that lets you connect a bag or vacuum to easily collect the dust when necessary, though.

This is a separate purchase, as no bag is included, but adding one will make clean-up much easier and save you a ton of time!

DEWALT DW745 Table Saw

Like the DWE7491RS, the DEWALT DW745 table saw is portable and features an open design. At the moment, it is not in stock on Amazon. But we expect this will change in the near future.

This model is a bit more lightweight at just 48.5 pounds, but that weight reduction does come at a price.

It also features the same tool-free guard adjustment and telescoping fence system that uses a rack and pinion design, this saw does include onboard storage, nor can it handle the same large sheets of wood.

The fence on the DW745 only extends to 20 inches, instead of 32 ½, and that could make a huge difference depending on the nature of your project.

You’ll want to thoroughly consider the kinds of projects that you’ll be using the DW745 for. If you’re trying to cut full sheets, this may not be the right model for you.

On the other hand, the DW745 is one of the lightest table saws available, and still offers the great power and reliability that is synonymous with the DEWALT brand.

It comes with a lower price tag than the DWE7491RS, and has a nice roll cage that will protect it from falls, drops, and other worksite mishaps. It’s a bit more compact as well.

Part of the compact nature of the DW745 table saw is due to its lack of a stand. It’s light enough to be carried, so DEWALT decided to forgo the stand and rolling wheels.

Instead, you have a solid roll cage around a saw that can be used on any flat and stable surface.

Much like the DWE7491RS, this table saw is very easy to use. They both include clear scales in addition to their rack and pinion fence system.

Add in the guard adjustment that is easy to install without the use of any tools, and you got a very user-friendly table saw that can handle a wide variety of jobs.

Table Saw Challenge #2: Cutting Performance

DEWALT DWE7491RS

The DEWALT DWE7491RS offers a high torque motor that has 15.0 amps. It will give you the power to cut through any hardwood and even cut through lumber that has been treated.

The torque will ensure the blade has a smooth take-off, which, in turn, will give you a nice clean cut.

If you’re looking for one of the best table saws that accept dado blades, this is a great option because it can stack dado blades up to 13/16″ thick.

The motor on this saw offers a whopping 4800 RPM when no load is placed on it. The saw works well with any ten-inch blade, including the 40-tooth model or the 60-tooth model.

Using the right blade for each cut will be easy when combined with the conveniently-stored tools found right on the saw.

The DEWALT DWE7491RS is designed to be the best well-rounded tool for most job sites.

It offers the cutting power you’ll need to tackle any wood and the flexibility to adjust to any angle or style of cut you may need.

The motor won’t stutter when faced with pre-treated or hardwoods, and it will be easy to swap in the right blade for each job with the handle tools.

DEWALT DW745

The DEWALT DW745 may be tiny, but it’s still mighty! It offers shoe bevels from 0 to 45. This will allow you to make a wide range of beveled cuts.

It also has a great 1850 Watt motor that will power through many common woodworking and carpentry cuts.

There is a quick bevel lock included with this saw along with a large scale. Together they will make it easy for you to make accurate adjustments as you cut.

That’s in addition to using the same, highly compatible 10-inch blades as the DWE 7491RS.

Although the DW745 motor also has the same 15 amps, this model runs a bit differently and only offers a 3850 rpm speed with no load.

This is despite having a similarly high-torque power.

You’ll still get a clean cut and solid power, though some woods require a bit more cajoling to cut than you will find with a high-powered model.

Table Saw Challenge #3: To Stand or Not to Stand

One of the biggest differences between the DEWALT DWE7491RS and the DW745 is the inclusion of a rolling stand with the 7491RS.

Depending on your fence size and cutting power requirements, this may be the feature that determines which saw is right for you.

Be sure to carefully consider where and how you will set up the saw on a regular basis.

If you’re constantly searching for a place to put the DW745, it might be worth upgrading to the DWE7491RS

DEWALT DWE 7491RS

While this saw was built for portability, DEWALT has chosen to include a secure and stable stand.

This will allow you to quickly and easily set up the saw and any location or Jobsite.

You’ll know that it’s well-secured and ready to use, and you won’t need to bring extra tools to get the set-up in place.

To keep the saw portable, even with the addition of the stand, DEWALT added wheels.

This can be even more of a benefit for those who aren’t comfortable lifting even the lighter weight of the DW745 model, and it allows the DWE7491RS to increase the weight just slightly.

That extra weight allows for the extra features and power found with this table saw.

DEWALT DW745

DEWALT designed this model with a clear emphasis on portability. You can carry it anywhere without needing a second person and transport it in the trunk of your car.

They even include a strong roll cage to keep it safe in the event that you drop it or bang into something with it.

The DW745 includes a lock mechanism to make it easy to stabilize on the top of any table stand, but you will need a table or stand that is mostly flat and level to place this on.

Of course, you’ll need to make sure that whatever you place it on has the stability to keep it steady while you make your cuts.
